Refurbishment Works

This project required the complete removal of existing floor finishes including wood, ceramic tiles, carpet and vinyl floorcoverings. With a tight contract programme, it was necessary to use a "Terminator" mechanical ride-on stripping machine. The existing subfloor was extensively repaired using an epoxy resin primer and rapid drying self-levelling compound prior to the new floorcoverings being installed. To accommodate the clients requirements all work was carried out on a nightshift basis to allow the store to maintain normal trading times and condition with minimal disruption. The project was completed in 6 months in line with the agreed programme.

The approximate contract value was £800,000.

A summary of the materials used in the project were:

  • 10,000m² of rubber tiles
  • 1,000m² of sheet safety vinyl
  • 2,000m² of vinyl tiles
  • 60m² of primary and secondary entrance matting
  • 500m of stair nosings
  • 15,000m² of epoxy resin primer and water based self-levelling compound.
